Frequently Asked Questions:
Who am I buying a puppy from?
From a very small privately owned breeding company. My name is Kathleen Foreman and you will be working exclusively with me. I only breed Cavaliers and I only have two female dogs.
Are your Cavaliers tested for heart disease, eye irregularities and patella luxation?
Yes. Penny and Georgia have been seen by a board-certified animal ophthalmologist and were certified clear. Heart and patella exams were performed and both dogs were cleared for any problems. Their tests are filed with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). Additionally, both dogs have been DNA tested for 195 hereditary issues and have been cleared of every one.
Where are you located?
In North Carolina, 30 minutes from the Outer Banks.
How are your puppies raised?
Our dogs are family members. Penny and Georgia sleep with me. The puppies stay with their mothers until they are weaned. At six weeks we begin crate training each puppy in their own private space. The puppies are safely fenced in during the day and play out in the sunshine. After supper, playtime and potty time, they go to sleep in their crates.
Will my puppy be house broken at the time of pickup?
Your puppy will be well on their way to housebreaking. Consistency is very important for puppies. At first owners will need to be vigilant about letting puppies out to relieve themselves after every meal, nap and when waking from overnight sleep.
Will my Cavalier need to be professionally groomed?
No. You will need to brush your Cavalier weekly and bathe them when you think they need it. Nails need to be clipped and the fur between their paw pads needs to be trimmed so they don’t slide on slippery floors. A pet owner can learn to do this or take your pup to a professional groomer. Your vet clinic can tend to the nails as needed.
What type of food will my puppy be eating?
Hills Science Diet for Puppies.
Will I receive any kind of health guarantee with my Cavalier?
Yes. You will receive a written health guarantee. We guarantee a healthy Cavalier from all canine disease or births defects for two years.
Will my puppy be microchipped?
Yes. Your puppy will be microchipped and will come with a lifetime registration through idtag.com. Microchipping insures an extra level of security should your dog be lost or stolen.
Will my puppy be AKC registered? (American Kennel Club)
Your puppy’s parents are all AKC registered. This entitles you to register your dog with the AKC. AKC provides lots of information and support to you for the life of your dog. When you register your puppy you will be entitled to 30 days of free AKC Veterinary Pet Insurance. AKC also insures your dog is a pure bred and will track the pedigree of your dog.
Will I get to meet my puppy’s parents?
Oh yes! Penny, Georgia will be available for you to meet.
Are you a licensed breeder?
Good question. In North Carolina you can only apply for a license if you have more than 16 female dogs. Right now we have two. I can pretty much assure you I will never have 16 dogs male or female.
What if I take this puppy home and I learn I am not prepared for the commitment it takes to housebreak, discipline, walk and play with my puppy? Can I bring the puppy back? Can I get a refund?
Yes. I will take your puppy back up to 16 weeks old with a 50% refund. I will find a great home for this puppy as they are very much in demand. After 16 weeks I will happily receive your puppy and find a home for him or her. I will not refund money after 16 weeks.
Will I be able to see my puppy grow and develop through pictures and updates?
Yes. I will update my social media every two weeks so you can see your sweet pet grow and thrive.
When can I pick my puppy up?
Puppies are ready for pick-up at twelve (12) weeks old. I will charge $20.00 per day up to two weeks after designated pickup date. If you do not pick up your puppy after 14 days, I will refund your balance for the puppy but not the $500.00 deposit. The puppy will be available to a new buyer.
Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are bred with a focus on good health and excellent temperament. The puppies are hand raised in our home, and receive lots of care and attention from every family member. Your pup will be used to a crate and on their way to becoming house broken more easily. Every puppy prior to pickup, will be vet checked, and have appropriate vaccinations. We recommend you immediately take your puppy to your personal Veterinarian for confirmation of good health. You will receive immunization records certified by our Veterinarian. I will update Facebook every two weeks so that you can watch your puppy grow and flourish, as you prepare to bring this furry new family member home.
